What Should I Wear?!

You may never get a second chance to make a great first impression so dressing well for your interview is very important! How you present yourself is how recruiters first view you. Most employers expect you to wear formal attire at an interview.

Most men are expected to wear dress shirts, dress pants and ties. You could tone down the formal with just a dress shirt and jeans or take it up a notch by wearing a full suit. There’s really no right or wrong, but once you have done your research, you will be more likely to know what will be more appropriate to wear for that specific interview.

Most women prefer to wear pencil skirts (with or without stockings) preferably at the knees or below. To top it off, they throw on a nice blouse or formal top/shirt. Heels is another go to for women going for a job interview. It really adds to formal attire most employer are expecting.

Finding out the appropriate attire for YOUR job interview can be tricky, but this professional attire stuff is universal so don't stress too much! An article posted in Nepal, Kathmandu states that, "When selecting the appropriate job interview dress, you need to know if the company culture is corporate and conservative or more modern and relaxed."(Kathmandu, 2010). It also encourages you to "Go and see. If you are unable to get enough information through your background research or your contacts, visit the company and see for yourself." (Kathmandu, 2010).

Another thing you should always wear to a job interview is your SMILE :)

Here is an infographic to give you an expanded idea of appropriate professional attire. This will really break it down for you!|
